New changes to eBay on March 30

eBay is making changes to the cost of Selling on eBay - one of the biggest hits will be to those of us that have an eBay store (Animal Drawings by F W Greenspan). Currently the cost of a subtitle in a store is only 2 cents per listing. With the change coming March 30, 2010, eBay is eliminating the Store Inventory format - making all listings Fixed Price. The good part is that formerly Store Inventory will be in the Core Searches, rather than being on the bottom of the search (when less than 30 auction or fixed price listings show). The hit will come if your Store Inventory has a Subtitle on March 30th...the cost for a Fixed Price subtitle is $1.50 - yes, from 2 cents to $1.50 per listing. Edit your listing individually - I could not remove the "check" in the subtitle box with the bulk editing. I could remove the words, but not the "check". I spent last Saturday - all day - editing individually almost 500 listings - to remove the "check" on the second page of the "revise listing"...be sure to remove that "check" or your listing will cost you tremendously more. Let me know if you find a faster way...too late for me as I've already spent the time to do it at a snail's pace.

Update 3/3/10 eBay announced they would be deleting upgrades to listings including subtitles, bold and Gallery Plus so Store sellers do not incur the hefty charges after the conversion March 30. Thank you, eBay...you were listening.

Here's the actual announcement from eBay:
Check your listing upgrades

Note that Store Inventory Format listings that come up for renewal between April 5 and May 5 with Subtitle, Bold or Gallery Plus listing upgrades will have the listing upgrades removed. We're doing this so you don't otherwise incur the higher regular price for these listing upgrades which take effect March 30.

Store Inventory Format listings with Subtitle, Bold, or Gallery Plus that come up for renewal between March 30 and April 4 as regular Fixed Price Format listings with full search exposure, will be charged the Store Inventory Format rate for these features that was in effect prior to March 30 as a one-time courtesy and be removed at the next cycle. You can add them back to your listings at any time.

  1. Ouch! Francis, that sounds painful! And that would have been a pretty penny (or mucho dollars spent!) If there was/is an easier way I'm sure that you would have found it! Thanks for the heads-up. By the way, thanks again so much for all of your help.
